A Lovely Four-Day Trip to Salzburg
Filippa and I recently spent four days in Salzburg, and I’m still thinking about how beautiful the city was. We stayed at Numa Salzburg Mozart, a modern, unstaffed hotel that felt very convenient and comfortable. Even though there’s no reception, you simply receive a code to access your room. The hotel also has a lovely attached restaurant, Kombu, where we had breakfast. Our room at Numa Stays Mozart was so cosy and thoughtfully designed, with plenty of space for Filippa and me to relax after a day of exploring the city.
We arrived quite late on the first day, so we ordered sushi from Kombu, the restaurant downstairs, and took it back to our room—which was perfect for a relaxed evening after a long day of travelling.

Exploring Salzburg by Bike
The next day was all about exploring Salzburg. We rented bicycles, which was such a fun way to see the city at our own pace. We rented bikes from HV-Bikeshop & Werkstatt. In the evening, we had a cosy dinner at the mexican restaurant Die Cabreras—I had booked a table in advance, and it was a really nice spot. The food was excellent at a very fair price. One of the highlights was taking the elevator up to Mönchsberg, where the views over the city were fantastic.
The next day we took an Uber to go Europark Shopping Center to look around and do a little shopping. That night we enjoyed a fresh, custom-made salad at Ping Pong Poke, which was perfect for a light meal during our adventures.
Salzburg is full of history and charm. Must-see highlights include Hohensalzburg Fortress, Mirabell Palace and Gardens, Salzburg Cathedral, and the famous Getreidegasse, where Mozart was born.
We were also in town to see all the Sound of Music filming locations, which was so much fun—but I’ll cover that in a separate blog post dedicated to that part of the tour!

Final reflections on Our Salzburg Trip
Getting there was easier than expected. We took the train from Skanderborg to Salzburg with three changes each way, and it went quite smoothly.
Salzburg is such a lovely city—full of charm, history, and beautiful scenery. I’m already looking forward to visiting again and seeing more of it.
We were really lucky with the weather in June. Salzburg is apparently one of those cities where it rains a lot—Julie Andrews even mentioned that in an interview, that filming The Sound of Music took much longer than expected because of all the rain. But we had three days of sunshine and lovely 25°C temperatures, which made exploring the city even more enjoyable
