Mauritius – Two Unforgettable Weeks in Paradise
When we boarded our Emirates flight from Hamburg via Dubai, we were all very excited. Mauritius had been on our travel wish list for a long time, and finally, in July, we set off for a 14–day holiday on this tropical gem in the Indian Ocean.
A Few Facts Before the Journey
Mauritius is a volcanic island nation surrounded by turquoise lagoons, coral reefs, and lush greenery. Known for its blend of cultures, outstanding hospitality, and some of the world’s finest beaches, it offers the perfect mix of relaxation and adventure. We had been looking forward to this trip for months, dreaming of white beaches and adventures together.
First Stop: Paradis Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa
Our first five nights were spent at Paradis Beachcomber Golf Resort & Spa, set on its very own peninsula. The hotel boasts a private beach where the atmosphere is serene and wonderfully luxurious. Each morning, we stepped out into pure tranquillity – just the sound of the ocean and the gentle sway of palm trees. Having rented a car gave us the freedom to explore at our own pace, but it was very tempting to simply stay there and enjoy the beach and surroundings.

The Ravenala Attitude – A Laid–Back Escape
From there, we moved on to The Ravenala Attitude, a hotel with a completely different, but equally charming character. The atmosphere here was relaxed, perfect for slowing down and enjoying island life. We especially loved the street food concept on the beach and the freshly pressed juices in the bar at the beach.
During this part of our stay, we went out to explore more of the island. Highlights included:

Chamarel’s Seven Coloured Earth and Waterfalls – a natural wonder that looks almost surreal.

Port Louis – the buzzing capital, where we walked through the famous central market and the craft market. Parking by the harbour made it all very easy though traffic was busy.

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden in Pamplemousses, getting the perfect Instagram shot of the amazing big water lilies. And after that some shopping at La Croisette shopping centre.

An afternoon in Grand Baie, where we got lunch at the beach, before walking through the lively little town.

A visit to the picture–perfect Notre Dame Auxiliatrice (Cap Malheureux). Here locals were selling freshly fried fish, which we enjoyed right on the beach in the shade of the trees.
Final Stop: Beachcomber Trou aux Biches
Our last destination was: Beachcomber Trou aux Biches Golf Resort & Spa. Staying in a private pool villa felt like the ultimate luxury. Waking up to breakfast served by our butler beside our pool is a memory we will always treasure.
The hotel’s beach was really nice a bit more lively than the other two we stayed by. The hotel was located right next to a nice public beach with small local shops and food trucks. We picked up some handmade souvenirs crafted by local artisans in the shops, and we tasted some of the best food of our entire trip from the little beachside street food trucks. This blend of five–star luxury with authentic local charm made the perfect ending to our journey.

A Journey to Remember
Mauritius is so much more than just an island. It is filled wih kind people, beautiful landscapes, and we will definitely remember this trip all our lives. We loved the beaches, the food, and the laid–back feeling everywhere we went. One thing is certain – this was not our last time. Mauritius has a way of making you want to come back. I hope we get the chance to go back one day.
