Mauritius in July: Our Stay at Paradis Beachcomber
We had been looking forward to our trip to Mauritius for months, and it did not disappoint. Visiting in July, which is technically winter, turned out to be perfect. The weather hovered around 24–25°C every day – warm enough to sunbathe comfortably, but not too hot to explore the island.
We stayed on the west side of the island. In July it is recommended to stay on the west side on the island, because the winds are milder and temperatures are warmer compared to the east. Our main destination was Le Morne, a UNESCO World Heritage site. We chose Paradis Beachcomber because of its excellent reviews and our desire to explore this beautiful area.
From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us warmly. We had booked a junior suite, but the hotel upgraded us to a slightly larger room with a better location. The room was spacious enough for our family of four – two adults and two teenagers. It included a small terrace. Staying on the ground floor was amazing. We could step straight from our terrace down to the beach, only 50 meters away. The terrace door could also be locked from the outside. This allowed everyone to go out to the beach independently, something we had never experienced before.

The beach is fantastic. You can walk far into the water before it gets deep, which is perfect for kids. The hotel also has a private beach exclusively for guests. This makes it the most relaxing and peaceful hotel beach we’ve ever visited. The staff were always friendly and helpful. We always found enough sun loungers for the four of us to sit together.
Breakfast and dining options
Breakfast was simply amazing – it’s served right by the main pool in a lovely setting. Even when many guests were eating at the same time, it never felt chaotic. The staff were attentive and made sure we had everything we needed.
One night we had dinner at the hotel, we tried Le Deck Restaurant. The meal was absolutely delicious; we had fresh seafood dishes and a Mauritian dessert – highly recommended if you want a special evening. For other evenings, we enjoyed dining just across the hotel entrance at Wapalapam, a charming local restaurant where we had two fantastic dinners as well.
All in all, our five days at Paradis Beachcomber were unforgettable. We highly recommend this hotel – it is worth every penny. Book well in advance to get the best rates, or if you’re feeling lucky, wait for last-minute deals.
