Stay in a Dreamy Spanish Villa: Our Family Holiday in the Mountains
In autumn 2024, we went on a big family holiday to Spain — and Thomas and I found the most amazing villa. We booked it easily through Booking.com, and from the moment we arrived, we knew we’d picked the right place. The villa is located near Coín, a town not far from Málaga. This villa is ideal if you’re travelling as a larger group. We were 10 people, and there was still room to spare, with six bedrooms spread across four separate houses. It’s such a clever setup, especially if you’re multiple families or a bunch of friends who want to enjoy time together but still have a bit of privacy.
A Completely Private, Mountain-Top Escape
The villa sits right at the end of a quiet road, completely isolated, with nothing but mountains, greenery and silence around you. It felt incredibly peaceful — almost like having your own little estate.
The outdoor area is huge, and the highlight (without question!) is the 18-metre private pool. It’s the biggest pool we’ve ever had at a private villa, and we were in it constantly. Everything around the property felt lush, green and full of life. There’s a small grove next to the house where we occasionally heard gardeners working, but we never actually saw them. They were so discreet that it truly felt like we had the entire place to ourselves.

The Layout: Four Separate Houses Connected by Garden Paths
The villa is made up of four different houses, connected by charming little pathways and surrounded by plants and trees. It makes the whole place feel like a tiny private village.
House 1 (the Main House)
This is the first house you enter. It has two bedrooms (one much larger than the other), a big kitchen, dining room, cosy living area and two bathrooms. From the living room you can walk out to two terraces — and we used one of them for all our meals. It was so lovely.
House 2
This house comes with a small kitchenette, a living area, two bedrooms and a bathroom. Perfect for families within the group who want their own little corner.
House 3
Similar layout to house 2, with a kitchenette, living room, two bedrooms and a bathroom.
House 4
The smallest, with a living space — and right outside it, a lovely outdoor hot tub.
The setup is honestly brilliant. Everyone can be together when you want to, but when it’s time to sleep or have a quiet moment, you can retreat into your own little space.
Mountain Views, Cosy Corners and That Dreamy Pool
The villa is tucked away in the hills, surrounded by forests views. There are terraces everywhere, little seating spots, breakfast corners, shady spots and sunny ones. And, of course, the pool area — where we spent half the week.
The only minor downside? There wasn’t enough hot water for everyone to shower at the same time. But honestly, that’s such a tiny problem in the bigger picture. And to be fair, we were 10 people, so that’s quite a lot of hot-water demand! It may well have been updated since our stay.
You’ll Need a Car (Trust Me)
The villa’s remote location is part of its charm, but it also means you pretty much need a car. You can technically order taxis, but stocking up on groceries and going on day trips is much easier with one or two cars.
Final Thoughts
We had such a memorable week here. The privacy, the space, the peaceful surroundings and that giant pool made it one of our favourite villa stays ever.
