Mall of Berlin – Family Shopping
In 2020 we made a trip to Berlin and one day, the whole family and I made a trip to Mall of Berlin and spent the day walking around, shopping, eating and exploring. If you’re planning a family outing, here’s what’s there now in 2025, what to expect, and some tips to make it smooth.
Where & What to Expect
Mall of Berlin is at Leipziger Platz 12 in Mitte, right between Potsdamer Platz and Friedrichstraße. The location is brilliant for combining shopping with seeing Berlin’s major sights.
As of 2025, the centre has around 270 shops and about 50 restaurants and cafés. The mall spans a big area (~76,000 m²) over multiple floors. There are fashion stores, electronics, everyday essentials, and quite a few places for eating & relaxing.
The mall opened in 2014 but still feels new and bright. It’s easy to navigate and has a good balance of international brands, German favourites, and newer concept stores that have arrived in 2025.
What’s New & Some Store Highlights
Since 2020, there have been quite a few additions and changes:

Lovisa (accessories/jewellery) has opened a branch.

Plein Sport, a luxury active sports-wear brand, now has a store.

TEDi, which sells home accessories, décor, stationery etc., is arriving (summer 2025) in a large non-food unit.

Reiss, the London fashion house, has also opened a new store in the mall.

Pull&Bear is due to open a large store (approx. 1,200 m²) in autumn 2025.

It’s the kind of place where you can browse for hours and everyone in the family finds something. We split up a few times — some of us went for clothes, others for tech and toys — and met again for food breaks in between.
Where to Eat – Five Great Spots
The food court in Mall of Berlin is surprisingly good, and it’s not all fast food. There’s a big mix of cafés, casual dining and international street food. Here are five great options worth trying:

Vapiano – fresh Italian pasta and pizza made in front of you; great for families.

Dean & David – healthy bowls, salads and smoothies; perfect for a light lunch.

Hans im Glück – German gourmet burgers in a cosy, forest-themed setting.

Nordsee – for fresh seafood and classic fish & chips.

Coffee Fellows – great for a break, with solid coffee and lots of cake options.
There are also several ice-cream stalls, bubble tea stands and bakeries for quick snacks. We stopped twice for ice-cream — you really do need breaks here; it’s a big place!
Tips for Visiting

Go early if you want a quieter experience. Weekends can get busy, especially in the afternoon.

Wear comfortable shoes – the mall covers a lot of ground.

Plan ahead – check the mall’s map for shops you don’t want to miss.

Keep snacks handy if you’re shopping with kids. There’s plenty of food, but queues can build up.

Combine it with sightseeing – Potsdamer Platz and Tiergarten are just around the corner.
